Mad cow and illegal aliens
Thursday, February 19th, 2004
Is it just me or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington? Also they track her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country.

Funny that you should mention this.

C'mon Bruce -- the cow had a green card and paid her taxes. INS and IRS had her nailed. How many illegals do that?

>>How many illegals do that?

That instantly reminded me of Mad TV's Mary Poppins skit:

Seriously though, I'm more than certain that records are kept on every single livestock sale in the country for this very type of event.

I doubt someone leaving their homeland looking for a better life for them and/or their family stops and fills out the paperwork.

Now, if all of you guys would get one those tags punched through your ears and a brandmark on your behind you could spot those aliens right away. At least on Miami Beach.

I don't know if you've taken a good look around lately, but that describes about half of the under-forty crowd these days.

Solution: make everyone carry an ID card.

It's not that difficult; every European has done so for decades. (Except in the UK, which explains why all immigrants want to get there.)
Nobody here has "privacy issues" with it.

In Belgium, new ID cards are currently implemented. Smart cards with public/private keys to enable safe e-government.

Well, there are two over-the-top things we could do about illegal imigrants from Mexico. Annex Mexico and they won't have anywhere to illegally imigrate to... that will whittle it down to the drug runners and we can just shoot everything that crosses the border outside of a checkpoint.

Or, we could simultaneously solve the Israel/Palestinian conflict by taking all of Israel and depositing it along our southern border. If anyone can man a checkpoint, those guys can. Not many Mexicans with a penchant for blowing themselves up either... sounds like a win-win-win to me.

Um Tom...that would be Genesis (with Phil Collins on drums and vocals)

"Dance on a Volcano" was Genesis (with Phil Collins on drums and vocals) ... "Illegal Alien" was the Phil Collins Travelling Road Show Featuring Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford. (I draw a huge stylistic line after Trick of the Tail. Not like those weirdos that think it wasn't Genesis after Peter Gabriel left -- or the even weirder folks who think Steve Hackett was the real talent.)

Stan,

I love old Genesis. Remember Steve Hackett? How about Chester Thumpsen on drums! I love Trick of the Tail and the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. In fact that is what is playing on the iPod right now!

The Pacific Northwest must be a very different sort of place, Bruce -- in the rest of the world it is compulsory for people who claim to like Genesis to fight about "when they were good". Real fans can tell you which bar in which song on which album that it all went to hell for them

Are Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford aliens too? Just kidding... I'm actually a huge Genesis mark (the entire evolution of the band too!)

Good topic, Bruce. Living here in the Pride Lands of Southwest Detroit, I see firsthand this situation. At first, I seemed a bit upset by it...many people who aren't even citizens getting "our" jobs. Something happened that changed my opinion...they moved next door. They ARE hardworking, loving families that just want what's better for their kids. They remodeled the houses in the area (including the one next door), and now property values have gone up around here. I also noticed that many of the "American" youth are lazy and would rather have babies and collect checks from the government than work for their money.

Just my 2 cents from the BIG D...

Details, Details...

I was speaking for myself, not the whole band, as it existed at that time. As for my pal Tom, he's my biggest fan and owns the whole collection up through, and including 'Invisible Touch.' He started yelling at me then that I needed to get back to "Art Rock," but I'm enjoying this cheesy crap that I put out now too much.

must have something to do with a cow being food, and some sort of cavemen need to protect and watch out for our food...
