7 to 6.5
Saturday, April 17th, 2004
Installed and then removed the M1 ND7 build off of my server after too many crashes. Vince had the same problem on OpenNTF. That's what you get with an M1 build. I am still reviewing the Notes client, Designer and Administrator. I see a couple of things I like (autosave option for forms, right click view actions, shared columns and web services). Feels more like a V6.6 instead of a V7 so far. More to come.

"As we said when 6.0 shipped, subsequent releases will alternate a client vs. server focus". Ummmm this is the first I have heard of this strategy Ed.

As we said when 6.0 shipped, subsequent releases will alternate a client vs. server focus. So, 6.5 was a client-focused release. 7.0 is a server/designer-focused release. 8.0 is a client-focused release.
This is absolutely a 7.0 release. A new data store option alone would be worthy of calling it a major release. The hundreds of other new features (many of which you can't see yet) are a bonus.

I agree with Ed, even if uncomplete for Beta 1, the DB2 backend could be as "revolutionary" as the http/domino support back in R4.5/R5 days...

But therefore the support of db2 should work. I have spent the whole weekend setting it up (db2and d7) only to see the server crash whenever it accessed the db2 component.
Early beta hu....

cheers

I know I remember hearing that strategy at Lotusphere or reading it. I'm pretty sure I heard it at Lotusphere. And Lord knows, if I remember something from Lotusphere...
